Ok so, I know that the downloads are usually free, with additional in-app purchase and ad supported, but this is a fantastic achievement for Outfit7 to boost. If ever there was definable proof that the mobile gaming / app market was thriving in 2011, its this:
"100,000 videos are shared on YouTube every month, with between 100,000 and 200,000 more on Facebook. Email is even more popular, with an average of 400,000 videos sent per month" says Outfit7 CEO Andrej Nabergoj (crunchbase profile).
This figure is the combined download total across all of their 'talking friends' apps.
Talking Friends is basically a cute 3D character that reacts to your voice or sounds through the microphone of the mobile device, with additional giro and accelerometer input controls added for movement. The app allows you to curtomise and care for your talking friend by playing and eating it. These customisations can then be captured and shared using their video and photo functions.
This level of uptake from iOS and android users has generated some very interesting stats for download and usage as displayed in this infographic.
