The Future of 3D studio Max 2012

I have been a long time supporter of Max, I have used in personal and industry projects for the best part of 8 years now, and yes, there are umpteen little niggles, tweaks, annoyances, and bugs that drive us crazy as patrons of this platform. Its nice to see that these are finally being addressed without compromising on the future development of the platform in the annual digital refreshment. UI love some of the little bits (you tend to forget them after a while) but, yea, when you think about it these are daft little quirks we work round every day!!!

samples and video after break...

Here's a small sample of some of the comments:
  •  Animatic creation as an .avi file should not default to "_scene.avi" and be dropped in the preview folder!
  • Why do max 'autobackups' still call themselves 'autobackup' and go into a separate folder to the project? Could these at less follow the project naming convention?
  • Ghosting geometry by layer as well as object, when animating it would be nice to quickly ghost the entire contents of that layer rather than, hiding or freezing only.
  • Lock camera (while looking through it) when you are looking through a camera and its in "freeze" mode, you can still move it!
  • Merge selection sets if geometry inside selection set is merged into another scene

Cant wait to see if some (or all) of these get looked at in future versions of the kit, but until then, take a look at some of the cool features about to make their way into the next couple of versions

ahaha finally - dimensional locking on geometry, spline, and bone creation - and indepement presopective rotation, sweet!
