Paperman - Walt Disney Short (UPDATE)

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman."

Uses a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him.

SHORT - Shelter

"An epic secret world is revealed within an attic during a rainstorm"

This 6 minute short sees us flying through corridors of wooden panels, through epic, expansive, environments of darkness and eeriness. This piece is an original take on a Mandelbrot fractal pull, similar to that used on Limitless.

Buyral - Professional Clicking

This Comedy Commercial spoof, for Buyral shows the positive ridiculousness of viral marketing and the attempt to control, market and quantify these phenomenon.

This spoof is actually really well done, followed up with a spoof site and spoof shopping carts! This really is commitment to the 'bit'.

SHORT - La mano de Nefertiti

Really cute (well polished) short by a Spanish outfit El SeƱor Studio specialising in character based animation.

The animation is fluid, and pacy. This allows the viewer the opportunity to understand the piece irrespective of the audio (Spanish!).

Beautiful rendering too, really vibrant, toy-like colours in the short.

Skyrim Cops

Classic bit of Machinima story making here!

Skyrim offers a great platform for this due to the shear size and complexity of the game. I think we are gonna start to see a lot more of this as games become more environmental and expansive. Hat tip to the Source Film maker software, playing of the back of the borderlands / Valve game engine.

SHORT - Rosette

Winner of the WTF prize at this years awards, this project Rosette by Romain Borrel, GaĆ«l Falzowski, Benjamin Rabaste, and Vincent Tonelli at Supinfcom is France, tells the tale of a woman whose love affair with her butcher leads to a very carnal exploration of the joys of meat, it probably isn’t safe for work. But it is very funny!

It has the feeling of something with a "JAMES BOND" abstraction crossed with a pure fascination with all things Pork?!?!?

This is brilliant non-the-less.

SHORT - Sascha Geddert for FMX 2012

This is a trailer for his latest Short film shown as the intro to FMX 2012. The Short looks amazing!

In the vastness of space, there’s a a small speck of rock inhabited by the most peculiar lifeforms: Dark little dots that start to replicate fast and begin to show signs of intelligence. „Globosome“ tells the story of the rise and fall of these little creatures.
This film is inspired by the special times we’re living through on our own planet. We're at the crossroads. The question is what makes humans actually different from bacteria in a petri dish. Surely we have culture, science and art but what does remain of these achievements if you look at our world from a global perspective. The Film will be released in Summer 2012.

SHORT -The Tube - OS Film Funded by Kickstarter

Well, I am not the first to see opportunity and potential in Kickstarter. This team is also not the first to generate a headline grabbing Kickstarter project in the past week! But, this is only the second project I have funded. I funded a Watch project last year, because. well... I liked the watch and wanted the honour of owning an original piece, only 400 were made, and I own one. So, it was a selfish purchase driven by my own desire. But... I have just funded this, simply for the fact that I think its a good idea, a good cause directed and produced by solid talent, in open source software - remotely...I mean, honestly, it ticks all the right boxes!

SHORT - RUIN by Wes Ball

A really cool 9 minute short (one huge chase scene) by Wes Ball and OddBall Animation Studio in LA, about a post apocalyptic world of death and destruction. Really well executed project over a six month production period, but I believe it was over 2 years in the making.

A good technical article posted on it at CG Society.
