Motion Design Studios

I  used to love the "cream of the crop" list available on Motionographer, but understandably they were getting fed up constantly updating and maintaining their lists, and were being constantly badgered with requests for inclusion into the crop.

Having said that, I loved to use the list to "bookmark" if you like, the main studios and keep up-to-date with the latest and greatest. A great source of inspiration and development.

So, I thought I would build my own list;

These are lovely, I love the simple fluidity of the movement, indicative of the actions driven the particle streams. The colours are perfect!

Müller - “Wünderful Stuff” - by The Mill

The Mill and Partizan’s Antoine Bardou Jacquet have come together to create the latest Ad for Müller Yoghurts. This is a fantastically odd advert for yoghurt and a huge jump for the company.

Well, I love it!

Eva - main titles by Dvein

This is just simply beautiful, it has a real organic / mechanical feel to it. Its an opening sequence for a film "EVA - a retrofuturistic sci-fi thriller in which Alex, a young scientist, returns to the town where he grew up to complete an unfinished project and create a boy robot."

Whats in a line weight?

I have been working a lot recently in Trophy Design and development for various different sports' federations, these projects are pure form designs, there has obviously had to be some functional consideration given to the designs with regards to manufacture and handling, but all in all these are mainly form based briefs - "make it look pretty!".
So, I have been working in 3D but trying to output a less engineered visual for the clients. Something that shows a less clinical visual at initial stages to the clients, but takes into account the physical capability and viability on the designs, at an early developmental stage.

SHORT - The Goon by Blur Studios

Blur Studios have just completed their latest Short in "The Goon"

This is an example of, a great collection of artists, writing and directing with with perfect intent, to produce a wonderfully original and well produced piece. I would never doubt that from the studio that brought us the amazing "Prey 2" cut scenes and intro animations, as well as the "Star Wars - force unleashed" collection of animations.

Animations are after the break >

Chipotle - Back to the Start

Coldplay's haunting classic 'The Scientist' is performed by country music legend Willie Nelson for the soundtrack of the short film entitled, "Back to the Start." The film, by film-maker Johnny Kelly at Nexus in London, depicts the life of a farmer as he slowly turns his family farm into an industrial animal factory before seeing the errors of his ways and opting for a more sustainable future. Both the film and the soundtrack were commissioned by Chipotle to emphasize the importance of developing a sustainable food system. Although this looks CG complete, or at least in part, however its all been shot live! Stop Motion all the way.

They have made a making of video which is posted here - making of

Nosh goes crazy with their 404

Periodically we come across some crazy looking, elaborate "404" (page not found) pages, but none more than Nosh.

Check this out, I think it has been done quite well!
