City of Possibilities - Norfolk Southern by The Mill

WOW, what a fantastic LIVE/CGI collaboration by The Mill on this monster of a spot! The shear amount of content in this spot would have been a mammoth task to produce. Congratulations on creating such a massive world but at teh same time making it feel cosy and cute. I kind of reminds me of the

ParaNorman - making of

I posted about the latest trailer for ParaNorman a while back, but now they have released a really interesting twist, between a "making-of" and another trailer, this video shows how the main character has been created from skeleton to outer shell, flowing seamlessly into another open trailer. Lovely and unique!

great work.

Brave - Pixar (making of)

This is a great little collection of "making of" videos, looks to have been filmed by Pixar guys. Although I have to guess that there was some copyright issue with showing these prior to the opening of the film, as the audio in the videos is rediculous. it flips and turns between Scottish music from the film to vocal and back to loud annoying music almost constantly. Its a shame really as the "making of" videos looked like there would have been quite good!

i think the footage has been poorly cut together over the three videos, including sections of the video within other sectioned, but overall it did reveal various aspects of Pixar I was not aware of.

HOTPOINT Land of heat by Platige Image

What a beautiful way of displaying this world of food. Its a landscape of edible delights designed to tease the taste buds into cooking.

This is an extremely well executed production with ALL elements actually CG. Be sure to watch the making of after the break to really see the detail in these assets which make this project truly "post" worthy!

Almost makes me wish they had not bothered with the "waves of heat" in the first place.

TRAILER (ish) - Prometheus, how much do you trust Ridley Scott

Well, I blogged about a Prometheus Trailer the other month, and yes, it looks amazing! I have no doubt it will be brilliant. But, do we really need these pointless run up "featurette's"? They are dull and utterly self promoting, I mean, have a watch, see what you think.

The Avengers - Making of

A good collection of making of videos.

The Guardian - Three Little Pigs

A really interesting piece detailing the now prevalent use of social media and user generated content to influence the news stories themselves.

"Playing on recent uprisings aided by the prevalence of social media (e.g. Arab Spring, Occupy movements), BBH London, Director Ringan Ledwidge & The Mill help The Guardian extend the message of their transmutation from a carbon to digital-based, open-platform, crowd-sourced journal in this smart reinvention of the classic fairy tale" from Motionographer

I thought this was a really original and thought provoking piece, I cant tell you the amount of times i have had to generate content to explain to clients how important the socila side of any campaign can be, it seems the Guardian and gone one or too better! With style, originality and professionalism.

Video and making of after break //

REBIRTH of GAEA

It's an Art project, but really its a very good, well detailed (making of) matte painting, but still a fantastic project by Jesse Michael Newman

This piece debuts at ART EXPO New York on March 22, 2012.

Witcher 2 - Making of by Platige Image

Well, I posted about the Trailer earlier last month, and, although it was over a month ago I cant stop thinking about it! I thought this trailer was brilliant and the making of is just another fantastic opportunity to see it again (honestly for about the 50th time!) I hope Platige Image are not tracking the Vimeo views as I'm afraid I will be responsible for many of em!

video after break....

FILM - Immortals CG and VFX by Tippett

Nice look into the working process of Tippett here for their work on the new CG "300" esq film Immortals. Not only do I like the way they have produced their effects and the detail they have added to the process, I also admire the "making of" video, I think it has been done in a smooth, fluid way that allows the viewer to see all stages without being dragged from one shot to another. I well thought out reel!
