G Star Advert - by Glassworks

Beautiful Macro animation by Glassworks for G Star. Its a fluid dance through the manufacture of a unique pair of jeans. I like the randomness of the end reveal!

The Forty Story by Pentagram

A great little piece, an original visual with a fantastic VO and script. What an original way of celebrating a companies 40th anniversary. Created by Pentagram is a large independent design consultancy.
The story of a boy born on the day Pentagram opened and how his life has been tracked (and kerned) by forty years of Pentagram design.

Brand Video - Thornberg & Forester

Just watched a really funny "Brand Video" from the people at Thornberg & Forester. It's difficult expressing how we work; to clients, potential clients and even randoms down the pub. I think this video is a great success at championing the company and their recent work / clients, at the same time as keeping it funny, engaging and above all entertaining!

Well done guys.

How to build an app - these days

Cynical I know but we have all seen the delights and despair involved in creating one's own app, either for IOS, Android, or HTML 5.

Steampunk Tech

I posted in June 2011 about some really interesting steampunk technology products, these laptops were hugely detailed and expensive and all but pointless, but cute nonetheless! Recently found these new / old....

Do I Have Power - Timber Timbre

Now this is a music video, this deliciously cute silhouette style animation is a brilliant mix of 2d style cell flat colour work with 3D CG characters. Displayed well, I particularly like the random cut shots of bugs/birds/and flowers posted throughout this piece.

Video after break.

Whats in a line weight?

I have been working a lot recently in Trophy Design and development for various different sports' federations, these projects are pure form designs, there has obviously had to be some functional consideration given to the designs with regards to manufacture and handling, but all in all these are mainly form based briefs - "make it look pretty!".
So, I have been working in 3D but trying to output a less engineered visual for the clients. Something that shows a less clinical visual at initial stages to the clients, but takes into account the physical capability and viability on the designs, at an early developmental stage.

RIP Steve Jobs - you will be missed

I would not say I was ever an Apple fanboy, but you can't help but feel pure admiration for a man who has shaped the Digital industry in such a meaningful way, Steve has been hugely influential in both the innovation and development of both the hardware and software industry as we know it today, as well as his mobile and lifestyle technological advancements. Steve, was the primary target, focussed heavily on pushing through the development of the mac, as well as the iPod, iPhone, and IPad.

We also would be remiss to mention the effect he had on our industry, his work helping to shape Pixar, has inspired countless 3d artists both new and old to get into the industry, as well as a huge increase in the production and popularity of animated shorts as well as their feature films.

Steve, you were an inspiration to us all, you shall be remembered.
